i'm stuck at home again, but this time, i'm not complaining
because, really, i have so much to be thankful for
being unable to go for a picnic doesn't even come close to spoiling it for me
in less than 24 hours, i'll be on the coach to KL!
am i prepared?
hopefully. i'm praying nothing bad's gonna happen
like a heavy downpour, or food poisoning
packing progress: 80% (undone stuff like my Old Navy's that's in the wash and my toothbrush and contact lenses)
maybe later today, i'll organise my 2010 diary(: that'll be fun. haha, organisers <3
organising my songs now. that. sucks =( it's taking forever..!

okay. i need to do a guilty rant
remember how i said, "I've had enough (of changing plans and all)"
today, i almost wanted to literally take all that back. like eat my words.
today started out rough, don't feel like sharing though
but the reason behind my guilt rant is that Ms Koh talked to me
Ms Yee told me the day before to speak to her, 1-on-1, directly
the convo was basically like this...
"why do you want to pull out from the trip?"
"(talks about KL trip, clashing,wanting to avoid troubling parents/mr kao/philip with more changes)"
"do you want to go to Indo?"
"of course. it's just that, i had to make a decision. either one or the other."
"oh, because we were trying to make plans for you to come back earlier, then you could go for both. The teachers put in A LOT of effort in this trip. On Friday, the teachers went out to recce immediately. The whole of next day, I spent coming up with the proposed ideas. And gave it to Mrs Loke ASAP. I assure you, though everything was done in three days, it wasn't a slipshod job. If we didn't have the contacts or experience, it would be impossible to do."

"we had to get the project approved fast because the more it dragged on, the less chance of the whole team being able to make it due to the last-minute notices. Basically, the teachers are very disappointed and upset that a large number of you cannot make it... Of course, at the same time we understand that the right is yours to decide. And when Yunnan go cancelled, we understand you would have gone to make other plans...we just didn't expect 7 people."

so many things have happened lately that i can't believe PW only ended a week ago
(:
firstly, i'm thrilled that i'm going to Batu Caves and Camp 5 in more than a week's time
But something else that came up was Ms Koh's approved proposal to go to Indonesia for 4D3N (23rd - 26th Nov)
I sat on the edge of my bed trying to weigh the whole Pro&Con thing
Going to Indonesia:
PRO #1 - i'd see the fruits of my labour through the past 8 months
PRO #2 - get credit for whatever we'd done (portfolio recognition)
CON #1 - it would clash with KL for a day, was it worth the trouble trying to accomodate both trips? transport would be a problem... and seeing that i'd already troubled Philip and Mr Kao so much, should i change my plans? Again? It wouldn't be fair. At all.
CON #2 - missing out on the fun in KL. Seriously, how much could you do in 4 days at Batam?
In the end, i told myself i couldn't let this affect my decision in going KL. All this while, the college leaders have been fickle in deciding the whole TOOP Cambodia/Yunnan/whatever's coming next.
When i heard Yunnan had been cancelled, i don't know why exactly, but it's like this switch inside of me that reads "enthusiasm about TOOP" went off. I wasn't interested in the local project, and i was done moping around in less than a day. The KL trip really helped me pick up. And it WAS confirmed, i WANTED to go. Sorry if this affects the team dynamics in any way. I just don't want to go through all that change-of-plans nonsense. I've had enough. Really.
Earlier that day, I was in the canteen, telling Zhengyu about the whole situation at home. Believe or not, i actually broke down. Well, i wasn't in a good state of mind to begin with, and i just knew he'd understand where i was coming from. Thanks for hearing me out Zhengyu & JAC! (: the rest of the climbers at the bouldering area (B-area) like Alistair, Rah, Calvin, Shakila and Dong were comforting too. For that, and for the bouldering that temporarily relieved my worries, and for the lunch after - i'm grateful!

and right before that, i experienced so many things at once, i didn't know how to feel.
Bitterness starts with the letter C. C for cancelled. My TOOP Yunnan trip, that is.
How are you supposed to feel when
1) whatever you've slogged for, for the last 8 months is gone to waste?
2) the one thing you put your heart, your soul, your time, your effort, your energy, your sleep, your passion into is gone?
3) all you wanna do is curse and swear at the "leaders" of the college
lemme just list the hundred and three things i'm disappointed with
i think i sacrificed trainings, time out with my friends, time out with parents, sleep time (getting the blog up, getting the eclairs to arrive on time, selling notebooks.....) and there's so much more.
i mean, when Mrs Loke said, "opportunities are like balls, catch them as they come along." thanks for taking my ball away?
and tell me how'd YOU feel.
admit that this decision you made SUCKS. and its terribly unfair to us and the other TOOP group.

so what if H1N1's going around..
like jiamin said, every continent in our planet is infected with H1N1, except antarctica. you wanna send us to mars or sth? how can you let other groups of students carry on with overseas trips to US, Tianjin, Vietnam, Korea, India and whatnot. you mean you guarantee their safety there?????
damn it. tears welled u several times when the teachers were trying to explain to us what the f was going on. (the F really shows how pissed i am, because people who know me know how rarely i use the word. if ever.)
immediately though, this thought came into my mind - BATU CAVES.
I sent a quick sms to Mr Kao, who quickly called me back, and told me the necessary things
-get parents' approval, get vaccinations, sign consent form.
WOO.
And yes, i am GOING to batu caves with TJCCC. i will try not to think about yunnan.

Well.. between the last time i updated this blog and 1st Nov, these are updates basically summing up
Then on 16th, the last day of exams, we went to watch ANOTHER movie, with the class - PANDORUM. pretty good, but gory too. Dinner then followed with Andrew&Zheng Yu. pics on the next post!
Monday 19th Oct was packed ttm. I had PW in the morning which was superbly unproductive (cos promos just ended mah!) and then i went for lunch with Ray Seen.. We kinda talked about AHS peeps and how she was doing as a CI. haha, i think she's grown more mature. Like she calls her cadets "my kids". hahaha. THEN i rushed to bedok to cut my hair (4 inches! if you didn't notice! hmp. kwan) and rushed out again to meet you VaRY (: Dinner was awesome though i wished we had more time to sit and chill. BUT im looking forward to our birthday celeb.
20-21st oct was FULL of PW. just went to school with a pen and a laptop..sit there and edit our presentation OVER and OVER. pretty slack but it was supposed to be a marking day. Little did we know "marking days" not = holidays for students. STUPID OR WHAT RIGHT??
22nd-23rd was Sports Carnival @ TJ! it was pretty fun and very well organised? The committee planned for games like there was no tomorrow. Lasted over two days and i got burnt while playing all those games (dodge ball, climbing, telematch, etc!)
26th Oct our school had a freeze mob in the morning. See this link! it's something we were working towards, but i think the people who took part just had a kick outta it.
Nothing much till... 31st Oct which was SOOO busy for me. Sometimes i think i have too many commitments >< Thank God though that i don't have a "person" to be committed to. hahah, wont be able to handle a relationship at the moment.
31st Oct early early - woke up and went to Pasir Ris Park and went for CLIMBON 2009! basically you boulder the entire day and collect points for each route completed. I had to leave after five routes though! hmp. i had grade7 theory exam somewhere in Orchard. So i practically rushed all the way to my exam venue after going home to bathe.
After that, i had dinner with my Ad Win, June, Baby Caleb, Sam Yee and my family to celebrate my cousin's bdae. Played with baby again! haha, pics once again on the next post (or fb if you want the whole chunk)..
A long long long day. And the next was longer!
I woke up even earlier to go back down to Pasir Ris park, but this time to JUDGE! woohoo(: we sit and watch Open/Elite climbers climb, and then give them points.
Basically, some drama happened here. Not a big deal really... except the TJ climbers who saw what happened wouldn't stop talking bout it. HAHA.

Hey all(= or should i say hi? because you know saying hey means i'm homosexual.

I'm so so so revived after weeks and months of studying my butt off
I'm so so so rejuvenated after the movie i caught with Nicole and Ming Xuan today
I'm so so so thankful that faith and grace alone put me through the examinations
I'm so so so glad that i'm at peace with whatever i have done so far
I'm so so so relaxed now that we're (almost) DONE with promotionals
I'm so so so excited that academic-related shiznit (except PW) is finally put aside
I'm so so so looking forward to...
1) tomorrow's mugg-math-much session @ expo with NELLY, kris.muacks. and Weng "Candy" Loong (haha!)
2) Friday's (no not math exam) yet-to-be-confirmed climb @ CA with the climbers & dinner+catching up @Ambush/Tokyo Crepe Girl/ion orchard with Andrew & Zheng Yu.
Actually i had so many plans on friday, it was heartbreaking to choose. But i'd already promised Andrew..so. yea. Plus the other two (POD overnight relax "cell" & TJCCC movie marathon) involve staying overnight. A no-no says mummy anyhow.
3) Saturday out with SMaRWLL (: and church. and cell. and birthday dinner @ Tavern with family!
4) Sunday. okay. nothing to look forward for then
5) the week after! Sports CARN (kris, you know..) Dragon boating = tan = sports (finally) ;D yayyyy

It's been a while.. I told myself I would blog, so I'm here to fulfil my promise(:
The concert I attended with Jason and Nicole wasn't as much fun as I hoped it would be. Probably cos the choreographers had very deep meanings behind each performance and I honestly wasn't in the mood for much thinking.
Anyhow, I enjoyed their company and met up with Debra, Eleanor, Aunty Sally and Mi Chelle too.
Jason learnt to plan ahead (what to wear) and us three will definitely be going out to catch a concert again(: yeeaaaa?
With my weekend burnt from PW and Dance Reflections: The Next Wave, I started to plan ambitiously for the weekdays. So far, I pretty contented with my progress, though it's soon I'll start regretting that statement. I'm somewhat finished with writing my own notes for content-subjects (leaving Oscillations&Waves; Carbloxylic Acid Derivatives; MC&Oligopoly, Inflation, Labour and Wage determination)
I plan to finish 'em by Wed.. and if all goes well, start chiong-ing revision papers. I mean. That thick stack of past year papers has to be put to use.
Missing climbing badly, I find myself reading the high-wall routes during morning assembly..But, we'll all be in for a treat in slightly more than a month's time when ClimbOn! takes off(: can't. wait.
As I type this post, my eyelids are being forced open because mummy won't let me sleep until i've had dinner. Why am I so tired...?
PW (sleep) over @ Mark's house. OP slides are now 80% complete, speeches need some trimming and we're basically almost ready for our OP rehearsal on Wed. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy getting the group to stay awake/focused/serious/productive. Someone sometime somehow, can just slip into lalaland without any sign. But work aside, I think I got to know my group members better? See them in their natural habitat(: I had fun (to a certain extent) but now all I need is rest cos I gotta feeling that my current state of sleep deprivation will take much recuperating.
I want to share about something that Ailing from Youth for Christ, aka YFC told me on Thurs. But it'll probably be a long post, which I'll keep for after Promos... when I've done sufficient research and I think I'm ready to talk to mummy. Keep me in prayer and all the best to those whose exams are underway.

Sick for the second time in a month.
Makes me question my immunity...
But mostly causes classmates to speculate whether or not I really am ill
They'll say I'm skipping school to mug
For the tests the next day.
While here I am, feeling lethargic, too weak to do very much
Here's what I did today, just so you know.
Last night @ 2000 hours - had dinner, feeling my sore throat getting worse
2100 - went to sleep, hoping to kill the bug by morning
2230 - woke up in sweat and decided not to attend school the next day
This morning @ 0900hours - woke up for breakfast, glad that i had no fever
1000 - played piano to lift my spirits and tried to do what you guys were doing (superposition) but failed cos the notes bore me
1200 - had lunch with daddy and jean
1400 - took a nap
1800 - voila! just woke up
so... if you think i'm "so gonna ace (my) tests tomorrow". think again.

12pm @ ClimbAsia yesterday - I'm offically a partner in CLIMB(:
Zhengyu came along with me, and next to arrive was Andrew
The other TJClimbers (Jac, Rah, Calvin and Chris) came slightly later about 1pm
By then we'd done our stretching and some endurance routes
Had loads of fun just catching up with them,
Doing some cra-sy routes
Working on some techniques
Turning fingers sore and toes cramped
I think I need to be less fearful of roofs, more prepared (mentally) each time I get on the wall and to stop being negative/Valerie (haha! "I cannot! I cannot" >< )
Really looking forward to the next time I climb (: and for now, I'll just do weights and static PT. Can't let studying get to my fitness =p

Sudden urge to fill this space up again
School has been what school is
Lagging behind tutorials, keeping awake during lectures
Except, with promos drawing near, there is an apparent air of tension -- once-upon-a-time slackers now picking up their pens, in a haste to copy notes which were blank from those 50 mins of la la land.
It's been quite a while since I penned down my thoughts, aside from my climbing journal that is. Pics are just a peek into the last month. I shan't talk more than 2 sentences about them though. I was thinking of diving into something deeper that Zheng Yu and I discussed about today.(Yes, we were studying. A bit at least)
Little things that were or were not to be cause big things to happen.
Though you may never see how something ended up to be like it is, it really stems from the tiny tiny details.
Like... entering into a Secondary School, choosing your first CCA, deciding on which stranger to start a conversation with, taking risks.
Think about it.
If I hadn't gone to AHS... I wouldn't seek the truth
If I wasn't an NPCC cadet, I would never have gotten to know him.
If I decided not to take the risk of having no PDPs, I would be in Air Weapons, not Climbing. And I would be so, so different.
If.
Hypothetical. Makes you think.
Something else led to us discussing how he knows her who knows him who once dated her friend. Really gives new meaning to "It's a small world after all"
It's a world where people put on masks.
Masks that hide their real identity.
Don't deny it, you have one on at the very moment.
That's how we're all similar -- we are in hiding.
The only difference is. How thick your mask is.
We want to impress that new classmate, outdo that competitor, feel accepted by the crowd.
We want to avoid lengthy explainations, shut our naggy relatives up, deny the unacceptable truth.
We incline towards the rich, the popular, the loud, the colourful, the good-looking, the lovable, the outgoing
So we do what it takes.
The thing with masks, though, it changes you. It changes the perception people have of you, which in turn changes how you react.
These masks change when we meet potential friends, enemies, lovers...giving rise to people seeing you in different lights.
Sweet and charming to one, a player and flirt to another.
Arrogant and bossy to one, full of leadership potential to another.
New light has been shed on old friends.
It will indeed change my view of them, but the light belongs not to me.
My light will depend on the mask I see.

Posting again after quite some time...It's finally the March break so i can't be happier.
7 days without lectures
[where tables that fold in do not permit any form of sleeping
where we also eat pringles/lays/chocolate with champagne/pocky/those crumbly puffs etc
where we rack our brains trying to keep up with the lecturer who's two pages ahead
where we scribble furiously as a last minute solution to our lagging-behind problem
and where we prepare ourselves for the next two years of such torture]
and tutorials.
I'll miss Climbing of course, the peeps, the warm-ups and the climbing. I can't really comprehend how quickly we've all grown so close together in such a short time. Like Jia Ying ma'am once told us pioneers, that the things that are bitter to do are sweet to remember. I'm sure it applies to this kinda bond we've got. Soon we'll get our climbing shoes (yipee!) and other equipment, then we'll really get the feel of climbing as a sport.
The past trainings, i was very very happy with my progress. Just a few milestones that i'd treasure, of course with the help of my seniors and coach and belayers.
1) Philip (my coach) shortlisted me as one of the three girls in the J1 team. We'll be joining the Year 2s after March for wed, fri and satuday trainings. I was overjoyed (:
2) I completed the yellow route on the extreme left wall (after weeks of doing only the white routes)
3) I completed the blue route on the extreme left wall (but the right side). I was SUPER tired after coming down n my legs like turned to jelly... haha but it was a good experience la, trying to mactch feet to hand. (crazy i tell u...). Much thanks to the above mentioned people, namely Vanessa, Gwen n Val plus the J2s who guided me along the way
That's all i have time for today, cos i predict more posts the coming week.

my blog has been so dead cos i've been so alive.haha, not to say that people with daily posts have no life
im just saying, im not lazy. just really busy
Well, Orientation Undefined: Ignite the Infinite 2009 @ TJC
was certainly a blast. Though at first i felt the OG was way toooo big
and that it was IMPOSSIBLE to bond with 44 other people...
we did our bestest in all that was thrown at us
cheering, dunking our heads/butts in flour, dancing ourselves away, running n attacking during the battle of the titans (WHICH WE WON!) OG 15 was da bomb =)
even though we couldnt get enough points to earn best clan/house, we came in second which was superb
My OG-mates were great, OGLs were superb n house cap,Victor was constantly on a high. It was indeed sad to leave O night on the last day of Orientation, knowing that it would be the last time we massed-dance or sat in a circle playing "blow-wind-blow". All in all, it was a good 5 days and i hope i manage to get my hands on some pics!
Here are some of the highlights from the 5 days @ TJC::
Monday: Ice breakers n Mass Dance S Club~~ (bang, left right, 1 2 3!)
1st Day video! (funny XD )
that's about it for the 1st day, mostly admin stuff
Tuesday: Amazing race! quite badly planned in terms of time.. so we managed only 2 stations. But while waiting for game stations, we had lotsa fun just bonding with OG mates =D
Mass Dances Speedy! (easy one) n The Sign. (i still dont get some of it. but oh well, dancing's great fun.)
Wednesday: Mass Games--we beat quite a few Daekoron peeps that day =)
Mass Dance again--heartsdale
that day we also started on our OG performance
Thursday: Mass games! thurs was a bad day cos we lost/drew with all the xcion peeps =(
we learnt the couple dance though! =D that made my day ^^
Dinner @ Suntec followed by the most exhilarating MASS DANCE by the suntec fountain! We ran round n round shouting 圣中 圣中! gathering all Anglicans. (started with Victor! haha) after much dancing, cheering n screaming, OG 15 (partially) went for supper at the food court. More bonding n pics taking =)
Friday: Battle of the TITANS! at first i was hesitant to play when i found out we got thru to the finals. cos the school field is HUGE. n i wasnt feeling all that well. But when we started hitting down cups n annihilating the other houses (making alliances too!) we were on a roll :D
plus our defenders were great, giving us VICTORY! wheeee =)
O Night was fun, with performances n competitions n finally dancing plus rocking to music. TJ is wild ;)

Back from piano lesson.
Left home about 1pm to meet Zhiyong (whom i thought would be loitering about the void deck.) little did i know he was in his dad's car waiting for me =)
Was kinda surprised when he suggested to go ECP. But it was a nice surprise. Did my theory stuff there and left after a bit, (we'll be back tho!). Sat in the car, with the radio and air-con switched on, after we arrived at the carpark near Emmanual Music School.
Had a great time, even though it was pretty haste, but i enjoyed myself (:

Decisions Decisions
i called wenxin earlier
about work initially (she cursed about the ungodly hour)
but we digress
she asked me
RJ? or VJ?
yeah, right now its all about choosing the right school
the one that gives me the most out of my two years
throw in a tad bit of school spirit
maybe the influence i get from "those" students
in a nutshell
its a pro-and-con weightage thing for most of us
excluding those who've had the DREAM SCHOOL CHOICE since forever
for me, i'm hoping to get to VJ
its a good school, most will agree
and many think i "have no problem lah"
though this decision is (or was. since i've submitted my application already.)
ultimately mine
the outcome is not for me to say
anxious, not really
cos in the end its God's will
if He thinks no to VJ
i won't appeal
even considering the pressure i predict will come from my mom
I can't gurantee N,V or T
But He won't forsake me, that i can gurantee

the date we'd all been anticipating
some were sleepless, awaiting
others couldn't eat
a small minority though,
without a single thought or word
allowed a normal-breeze-by week
2pm we all gathered
in that hall where we first started
mass dance and orientation cheer
now with more than a hint of fear
slowly but surely the results came
all around there were people
upset, down, and inevitably crying
others happy, jubilant and grinning
are these results a reflection of our intelligence
or hardwork maybe?
do i deserve this?
i say, it's not a question of who deserves what
but it all lies in the hands of our Lord
i believe this comes as a blessing in disguise
to those who expected better,
do not fret, it isn't the end
somehow somewhere
God has a plan in store
not one that we'd ever think of

Just an update of my latest going-ons
-prom "Hasta la Vista, Baby" was on 26th nov
lotsa pics taken. But somehow i wouldn't really place the Orchard Hotel event under my "most memorable" list. The 3D2N stay with Vanessa,Yu Kwan&Rach however was great =) glad that we talked throughout the night about stuff we usually would avoid and just be open about everything?

whee~ this high-ness is a bit belated
and somewhat just ink on paper
cos i didn't really feel all that *big grin from ear to ear*
after the final paper...
guess it was a gradual thing. Like, "oh! im halfway done. time to watch some TV"
and "yay! 3 MCQs ahh, 3 MCQS!"
so after bio paper1, i met rach n we were supposed to go Sentosa.
BUT, there were only 4 out of the smarwll peeps. and the weather really sucked
so we kinda called it off.
Rachel did come over to my house tho. for a movie =) Get Smart
2nd time i was watching it, so it was a real bore =(
decided that THAT was NOT how we wanted to spend our last day of secondary school examinations... so we changed n went to Orchard to SHOP with van!

cos the sale was really too good to miss. yeahh
Dinner with dear @ Taka's Ambush!
Had the usual ham&bacon carbonara
n intro-ed the thai basil sauce, wild salmon pasta to dear dear.
yummy choc brownie for dessert!
(&& i think i frequent Ambush too often. the boss recognises me =p hehh.)
since we reached Bedok pretty early
we sat by the playground and talked etc... till it was time to go home =(

Yesterday was probably the most sun-filled day i had
Early in the morning...5am
i was up and ready to go to school (had to reach by 6am)
took a cabby, and arrived to paint my face and help others with theirs
i created masterpieces =p (pics will be out!)
Rehearsed one final time and went over to the parade sq.
the UGs were AWESOME. i so wanted to join 'em
great that no one fell out =)
NP was superb!
Cheering was fine. Think lotsa 4B peeps were to nervous and forgot the cheer...
sigh. all really sad that we didn't win anything. sigh again
But i guess we all had fun during the process. bonding and all
congrats to those who won. sorry if we sounded sore.

Finally it was free-time

Yong Sheng totally owned, so unfair can?
But yes indeed, wo men lao le. Couldnt play as long as the sec1s could... ha!

The gals sat down under a shady tree and had apples/phototaking session

Later i noticed some of the Sec3s had come out of the water n were playing Beach Volleyball
Since I was desperate to play some ball (had rested enough =) ) i went over n asked if i could join them =)
First time i played serious VB, and i think it was a bit laokui at first cos... erm. the ball got no direction. lol.
But after warming up, i got the hang of it.
The ones who were alr there were good lahh, esp xinmin!
joseph liked the sand alot n janus got no control of his power.
haha, cheryl was great too, she helped me with my... technique? =)
Through the awesome time i had with them, i made some new friends...
